Capabilities and applications

A perspective from the officer

Body-worn video adds a record from the officer’s position. We propose evaluating it for public interactions, traffic stops, complaints and investigations across Puerto Rico Police and municipal departments. Recordings can add context to subsequent review without replacing reports or professional judgment.

Recording throughout a shift

Reveal lists up to 14 hours of recording for K-Series, H.265 encoding, GPS and up to two minutes of enabled pre-recording. The family offers a touchscreen, field playback and annotations, low-light recording and Bluetooth triggers. Confirm the selected K6 or K7 model and configuration.

Connectivity and protection

Live streaming depends on model, connectivity and licensing. AES-256 encryption protects recordings managed through authorized access in DEMS 360. AI features are optional and licensed; they are not a mandatory component of the proposed policing program.

A practical agency workflow

Assign a camera to an officer, inspect it before the shift, record the incident reference and complete upload at return. Supervisors should identify pending material and manage review requests. A retention policy should distinguish routine interactions from recordings associated with investigations.

Benefits for supervision and community

Video can provide context for complaint review, procedure assessment and training. Officers can supplement timelines and explain scene conditions. Consistent administration supports information requests and preservation of relevant material. Viewing angle, obstructions and audio affect the record, so it must be assessed alongside other evidence.

A Puerto Rico deployment

ISEC proposes sizing cameras, docking, storage, connectivity and support around shifts and stations. Include replacements, training, privacy and access procedures. Chain of custody requires documented handling; a camera or encryption alone does not guarantee it.
